Flight Centre

Flight Centre's Moneywi$e program is a complete financial planning service for Flight Centre employees and their immediate family. One on one financial planning and advice is provided by qualified financial planners who look after staff in a geographical region. Moneywi$e financial planners focus on supporting staff to improve their personal finances, and this can include budgeting, managing debt, setting goals, superannuation, and investment strategies. In 2005, the Moneywi$e team held over 5,000 sessions with Flight Centre employees and their immediate families.

Moneywi$e was established by Flight Centre in 1994, and was the brainchild of the CEO, Graham Turner, who had a vision of creating financial success stories amongst Flight Centre staff. He felt that offering staff financial planning services may help staff manage their money better and achieve their personal goals.

Moneywi$e is promoted through staff induction programs, the staff intranet, a regular newsletter with feature topics, and through staff conferences. Moneywi$e's National Leader, Paul Mann says:

Flight Centre and Moneywi$e Logo 'The Moneywi$e program provides a unique service which helps to attract and retain employees and improve productivity. At Flight Centre we believe that if our people have their personal finances in order they are more likely to be happy, work harder, and as a consequence benefit both themselves and the company.'

Paul's advice to other organisations thinking about providing a financial literacy program is 'to do it properly - make sure that you provide something that is sustainable and will be valued by your staff'.
