John McFarlane
Former Chief Executive Officer, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited

John McFarlane was Chief Executive Officer of ANZ from 1997 to 2007. Mr McFarlane is a director and former President of the International Monetary Conference, and a council member of the Australian Bankers' Association, having recently retired as Chairman. He is a director of ANZ National Limited, the Australian Business Arts Foundation, and the Financial Markets Foundation for Children, and is a member of the Australian Government's Business Regulation Advisory Group.
Mr McFarlane was formerly a director of the Business Council of Australia and the Australian Graduate School of Management. In the United Kingdom, he was a director of the London Stock Exchange, Capital Radio Plc, the Securities Association, the Auditing Practices Board, the Financial Law Panel, and the Cranfield School of Management.
Mr McFarlane has received banking fellowships in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts. He was awarded an OBE in 1995, and in 2003 the Australian Centenary Medal and the inaugural Distinguished Alumnus Award at Cranfield School of Management.
Mr McFarlane was a member of the Consumer and Financial Literacy Taskforce.
